Good News and Great Joy
In 2016, Daniela gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby girl. But by her first birthday, her doctor noted a heart murmur. By her second birthday, a cardiologist diagnosed a heart defect and confirmed that Daniela’s daughter would need heart surgery—just like her son had years before. With hope that her daughter would thrive again, Daniela and her partner began saving for the procedure.
Years passed and before they could save enough, Daniela’s daughter’s symptoms grew worse. Surgery could not wait. Daniela sought help from Solidarity Bridge and in March 2023, her daughter received the operation. One month post-surgery, Daniela shared the good news that her daughter was full of smiles and returning to normal activities.
But, this moment of joy was short-lived. A few months later, Daniela learned her son would need another heart surgery, and quickly. Daniela was devastated. How could her family afford another major surgery? How could they not?
Daniela reached back out to Marizol, a social worker at Puente de Solidaridad, and through resources from donors like you, Daniela was greeted by a message of good news: her son would receive the urgent surgery he needed. Today, we are grateful to see the family all together, strong, resilient, and filled with great joy.
