It's mission time again!

Happy Valentine’s Day! Our General Surgery Team is on its way and our Neurosurgery Team is right behind as we kick off the first two Medical Mission Trips of 2014.

Working at two hospital locations, our 20-member General Surgery team will consist of 3 surgeons, 4 anesthesiologists, and a full cadre of support staff and interpreters. At El Gastro hospital in Cochabamba, our doctors will partner with their Bolivian peers to perform particularly high-level oncological, colon, and other surgeries. At the same time, other team members will collaborate at a smaller municipal hospital in nearby Tiquipaya, serving a highly-impoverished indigenous population in need of basic gall bladder, hernia, and other surgeries. Blogging for the team will be interpreters Robin Wood and Vivian Joffre, mission chaplain Sarah Hinojosa, and trip coordinator, Jodi Grahl.

As that trip wraps up, Solidarity Bridge will send a Neurosurgery Mission Team to Cochabamba and Santa Cruz for a full week of training and service. Our doctors will provide adult and pediatric neurosurgeries, teach a course on endoscopic surgery, and continue the process of forming a Neurosurgical Institute.

Stay tuned for updates from our operating rooms in Cochabamba and Santa Cruz!
