Strengthening Families and Communities
Solidarity Bridge firmly believes that saving a life and alleviating suffering can sustain families and strengthen communities.
Since 1999, Solidarity Bridge and our sister organization Puente de Solidaridad have provided healing care to over 65,000 patients – impacting these individuals and the families and communities in which they live and work.
We invite you to get to know some of these patients and families through their stories. Please join us in praying for all who are in need of healing care today.

While saving one life, each pacemaker we implant can heal and empower an entire family. Patients in 2017 included mothers and fathers with families who depend on them, and even children themselves. Meet some of the families who received this restorative care through our Pacemaker Program in 2017.
Elena’s journey—which began with a devastating injury and led her to nursing school—shows the powerful ripple effect of gratitude.
A healthy heartbeat is something that pacemaker patients like Patricia can never take for granted. Once patients receive an implant through Solidarity Bridge, we commit to their permanent, lifetime follow-up care.
In 2016, US missioner Dr. Joseph Wu, an electrophysiologist from UCLA Medical Center, traveled to Santa Cruz to work alongside our Bolivian partners at San Juan de Dios Hospital. The trip helped to integrate St. Jude Medical, a new corporate donor, into our Pacemaker Program. Dr. Wu accompanied staff on home visits with patients and their families. Here are a few of their stories.
“My mother deserves to have good health,” one of her daughters commented. A son added, “She has suffered a lot over the years, but she is strong and independent. She knew the mission was the answer --- and she moved ahead.”
The first day of mission was highly satisfying. “I see this mission as an opportunity to provide a service that positively changes the quality of life of many women,” commented Janet. “This is my third mission to Bolivia– and it has become home.”
This is Mission. Moving forward step by step, patient by patient. Celebrating lives restored, and doing what we can to maintain hope for a future for our patients and their families.
