Pray and Give Alms with us this Lent
For our patients, untreated health issues can significantly limit their ability to work, care for their families, and pursue their dreams. Your solidarity and almsgiving this Lent can help someone access life-changing surgery and renewed health. May the journey of Lent be a time of renewal and growth so that with changed hearts, we might heal and transform our world.
God of all people,
Your compassion invites us to be transformed,
Your love calls us to be one human family,
Your wisdom invites us to journey through this season with open hearts.
Through our Lenten prayer, fasting and almsgiving,
draw us closer to our brothers and sisters around the globe,
deepen our hunger for justice in the world,
and compel us to act in solidarity with those in need of your healing care.
May this journey of Lent be
a time of renewal and growth,
that with changed hearts,
we might heal and transform your world.
Amen.
podamos sanar y transformar Tu mundo.
Amen.
Surgical care is essential to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for adults and children of all ages. Yet surgery has long been overlooked in the global health community as a form of essential care. Working in partnership with medical communities in Bolivia and Paraguay, Solidarity Bridge seeks to make surgical care safe and accessible to those in most need. Together, with the global health community, we are creating a new way forward. Learn more about the possibilities for global access to surgery and be part of this movement with your Lenten almsgiving.
In the words of Dr. Paul Farmer, “To accompany someone is to go somewhere with him or her, to break bread together, to be present on a journey with a beginning and an end. There’s an element of mystery, of openness, of trust, in accompaniment. The companion, the accompagnateur, says, “I’ll go with you and support you on your journey wherever it leads.” The women at the foot of Jesus’ cross exemplify this sentiment. So do the social workers with our sister organization, Puente de Solidaridad. These companions support and accompany our Bolivian patients and their families as they seek needed healthcare. Your Lenten almsgiving provides accompaniment to patients and families suffering in the midst of health crises.
